Testimonials

I was a naive amateur when I wrote my first and only book, so I approached the Choir Press in Gloucester for their help to enable me to complete my autobiography and hopefully get it published. They could not have been more supportive. Without their advice and guidance my book would have never seen the light of day. Sales of 'Right Away!’ have greatly exceeded my expectations and to date the feedback that I have received from readers has all been favourable. Therefore I consider that my book has been a success, but only because of the teamwork and collaboration I experienced while working with the Choir Press.

Steve Davies. Author Right Away!

I have been publishing through The Choir Press for over 10 years, working with a wide range of texts from academic journals to art books. The quality of the final product is outstanding which is a result of two dimensions that Choir Press do particularly well above other publishers I have worked with. In production phases there is the friendly, expert advice on the technical side of setting up a book, allied with the professional, long sighted view of how a given book might sit in the publishing world, be that through online shopping, or in hard copy on a shelf. From the calm voice on the telephone welcoming my novice inquiries for help, to the pricing, cataloguing and monitoring of sales, Choir Press really do provide an excellent service which I have gone back to year after year. A feature of many of my publications has been the non-standard or quirky nature of their content and I have benefitted greatly from the freedom of self-publishing that Choir Press have guided me towards.

Searching the net for a publisher for my poems, I came across the Choir Press. That was five years ago and since then I have written five poetry books and cherish every one of them. People who self-publish usually receive a thin booklet, mostly with a cover that does very little to enhance their work whatever it is. But I have books professionally produced with attractive, inviting covers and poems arranged in alphabetical order exactly and correctly laid out.

Miles, Rachel and Adrian are the three people who run the Choir Press. Three people who are professional, efficient and always ready to help with any queries or questions. They are very approachable and possess a good sense of humour.

So I would enthusiastically recommend the Choir Press if you are considering an adventure into self-publishing. If you still have doubts go to Amazon on the internet for these five titles by Richard Maitland: ‘RUNAWAYS’, ‘ADVENTURES WITH WORDS’, ‘WHAT LARKS!’, ‘ANCHORS AWEIGH’, and ‘NORTHERN LIGHTS?’. Better still, buy one and feel the quality.

Law Brief Publishing is an online publisher whose main business is a subscription-based online law journal called the Personal Injury Brief Update Law Journal (www.pibulj.com). We wanted to branch out into publishing law books and after much research settled on Choir Press to help us with the printing. Since last year we have now published three legal textbooks, a book of legal cartoons and a two volume hard copy of our online journal and we've been delighted with the service and attention to detail provided by Miles and the team at Choir Press. They take enormous care with each book to make sure it's right and have also helped us enormously in getting up to speed with technical issues such as to how exactly to go about getting a book into just the right format. The quality of the finished product is excellent and it is also particularly impressive that if you have any questions during the process Miles is on hand to deal with them as and when. We really couldn't recommend Choir Press more highly.

When I was planning the publication of The British Cavalry Sword, quality of production was a top priority as I had heard much criticism of previous books on this subject insofar as that aspect was concerned. I therefore spoke to several publishers but I never had confidence that they really understood what I was looking for until, finally, I spoke to Miles Bailey at the Choir Press. I was immediately struck by his enthusiasm for my project and his understanding of what I was trying to achieve. Miles provided much needed practical advice on every aspect of the publication process and indeed even advised that I should improve the quality of my photographs! The end result was outstanding and the quality of the book has received praise from many quarters. I therefore have no hesitation in giving the highest recommendation to The Choir Press.

I approached the Choir Press in October 2013 to get my book published. I am very happy that I engaged in a partnership that had sound mutual benefits that contributed towards the publication of my book.

The benefits of working with the Choir Press are immense because one can not only get a book published but be taken through the whole process maintaining a sense of ownership and learning the ropes from an experienced and professional staff base. I am writing my second book and my only publishing choice will be the Choir Press, their honesty and friendly manner is very unique and I am happy I met this team. With the Choir Press you will always be met with patience and their commitment to quality is very evident in all that they do.

Thank you to everyone at the Choir Press for helping me to get my book published. It was a daunting experience at first, but your support, encouragement and wise words made it an enjoyable experience. I would have no hesitation in recommending the Choir Press.

I have no hesitation in recommending The Choir Press to any budding author who wants to take those first tentative steps into the world of publishing. When you go it alone you need a service that is sleek and straightforward without costing the earth.

Jonathan Foster, Author The Death Ray and The Secret Life of Harry Grindell Matthews

At every stage you consulted, gave gentle advice and kept me up to date with progress. I could not have asked for more. What you predicted happened and the final appearance is totally down to your skills and I shall always be grateful to you for that. If ever I can help in any way do please ask; I would be more than happy to recommend you to anyone.

Michael Jones, Author It May be Christian. I think it’s Silly.

Thank you very much, it looks quite excellent . . . we do appreciate all your help without which I think we would have faced many unfortunate problems. You added that extra dimension which comes under the heading of 'time and care'. We are very grateful.

Mr and Mrs J Bowler, private publication of a family biography

Working together with The Choir Press has been a rewarding cooperation where we have been able to meet all our set objectives, within established time-limits and at very competitive terms. But the intangible aspects have been as important, the feeling of being an important client, the quick response times and with friendly and experienced advice along the way.

Anders Grath, Author Internatonal Trade Finance

The Choir Press met all my requirements . . . the whole process went smoothy with the books arriving 2 weeks earlier than expected. I should also add that there were no added costs and no nasty surprises along the way and I got exactly what I expected with the quality of the final product being remarked on by many people who purchased it. I can heartily recommend the Choir Press to anyone who is looking for a self-publisher and if I could ever summon up the energy to write a second book would have no hesitation in going back to them.

Colin Fox, Author The Bennett Letters

We came across Miles Bailey and the team at The Choir Press by using the web . . . we were up against tight schedules to produce the finished book for a specific launch event. As is the way . . . things went down to the wire and each time Miles was prepared to go the extra mile to ensure that we had our books right on time. We will certainly be continuing our partnership with The Choir Press on our next project.

Mark McKergow Author and Publisher at www.sfwork.com

Thank you for the wonderful job you have done. You have made the whole process so easy for me, guiding me through the system and answering my continual questions with patience and humour. Everything happened exactly as and when you said it would, and in a very stress-free way. I am absolutely thrilled with the end result.
